4th Hohenstein Institute Innovation Exchange - Where real life meets research

Bönnigheim - On Thursday 10 June 2010, Prof. Dr. Stefan Mecheels welcomed nearly 80 people with an interest in the textile industry and research to the 4th Innovation Exchange at the Hohenstein Institute. On the previous evening, the Hohenstein "Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence in Global Textile Services" had been presented to Christine Krautschneider, long-standing managing partner and now Chair of the Supervisory Board of Salesianer Miettex in Vienna.

TenCate introduces flame retardant fabric for group tents

Almelo – Netherlands based TenCate Outdoor Fabrics has introduced a new inherently flame-retardant fabric for group tents, called TenCate Campshield. Scouting Nederland, which is celebrating its centenary this year, will include this new safety fabric from TenCate as a standard item in its collection of group tents for scouts.

Acqua Zero for water repellent stretch fabrics

Friedrichshafen - Leading Italian manufacturer of warp and weft knitted fabrics SITIP SpA Industrie Tessili, showed its new Acqua Zero range of ‘non-wetting’ fabrics at last week’s Outdoor show on the shores of Lake Constance in Germany. TenCate doubles first half profits

Almelo – Netherland’s based technical textiles giant, TenCate has announced that its operating profit (EBIT) for the second quarter of 2010 has soared to approximately € 27 million, up 143% from second quarter 2009’s € 11.1 million, in advance of the publication of its half-year figures on 26 August 2010.

EDANA announces board of governors for 2010-2011

Brussels - EDANA, the association serving the nonwovens and related industries, today announced its new Board of Governors for 2010-2011. Incoming Chairman Jean-Marie Becker (Ahlstrom) will take over from Kenneth Strassner (Kimberly-Clark), who has retired from his previous position. Paul Eevers (Unilever) continues his role as Treasurer, and Gerd Ries (Johson & Johnson) continues his roles as joint Vice-Chairman with Josef Schmidtbauer (Lenzing) who is taking the role for the first time.

Germans draw positive conclusions from ITMA ASIA + CITME

Frankfurt am Main - German textile machinery builders are said to be pleased with the recent ITMA ASIA + CITME 2010, held at the end of June in Shanghai. According to a survey of the VDMA Textile Machinery Association, over 60% of German exhibitors evaluate the prospects for post exhibition business to be very good or good.
