TenCate advanced materials at Dutch motor show

Amsterdam - Three vehicles incorporating fabrics from TenCate will be on display at the AutoRAI 2009 motorshow, to be held in Amsterdam from 1-11 April. These are the KG-1 Concept from KesselsGranger DesignWorks (Eindhoven, NL) at the Dutch Design Lounge, the Go-4 Dakar off-road vehicle from the HAN University (Arnhem, NL), and the DUT racing car from the DUT Racing Team of the Technical University of Delft (NL).

Asahi Kasei withdraws from polyester business to focus on knits

Tokyo - Asahi Kasei Fibers is to cease in-house production of polyester and monofilament yarns and close its plants at the end of September 2009. With the closure of its polyester plant, the company will transfer production of its main specialty polyester yarns to Teijin Fibers Ltd., and focus on the development of business in knit fabrics for activewear, including athletic wear and swimwear. The monofilament business of Asahi Kasei Fibers, including both production and sale, will be transferred to Uniplas Corp., a leader in the field of monofilaments, effecting a complete withdrawal from this field by Asahi Kasei Fibers.

Coats dyeing machinery to get thermal insulation nano-coating

China Liugui Group invests in Oerlikon Neumag carded nonwovens lines

Neumünster - China Liugui Group, Ltd. has signed a major order with Oerlikon Neumag for the supply of machines and lines for the production of industrial nonwovens. The order consists of six complete lines for the production of carded nonwovens. Teijin to grow pollen-shedding polyester business

Bruno Banani underwear goes green with Biophyl

Hamm – Innovative German underwear brand Bruno Banani has launched a new men’s underwear range called Jump&Run, which uses Advansa’s eco-friendly Biophyl polyester fibre.

German entrepreneur Wolfgang Jassner launched the underwear label Bruno Banani in 1993, to bring novel, trendy underwear for men to the market. The company says that for the first time in the history of the clothing industry, Bruno Banani suddenly pepped up the most intimate of all articles of clothing with bold colours and daring cuts and added unusual details such as embroidered emblems or rhinestones.

Lenzing extends position as leader in cellulose fibres

According to preliminary figures, consolidated sales rose by 5.4% to EUR 1.33 bill. (2007: EUR 1.26 bill.), EBITDA declined by 12.4% to EUR 200.8 mill. (2007: EUR 229.3 mill.) and EBIT fell by 19.7% to EUR 130.3 mill. (2007: EUR 162.3 mill.). Net income declined by 33.1% to EUR 77.7 mill. (2007: EUR 109.6 mill.). In view of the uncertain economic development in the current business year, the management board will decide on a dividend proposal at a later date.

Basel Switzerland and Palo Alto, CA - Huntsman Textile Effects and Genencor, a division of Danisco A/S, have introduced Gentle Power Bleach, a revolutionary solution for bleaching textiles in a more environmentally friendly way.

Gentle Power BleachTM is a new bleaching technology from Huntsman based on a first to market enzyme innovation from Genencor. The new peroxide bleach system allows for low temperature bleaching of textiles at 65°C and at a neutral pH range. By lowering the treatment and rinsing temperature considerably, savings in water and energy consumption of up to 40% are possible says Huntsman.

ITMA ASIA + CITME returns to Shanghai

Shanghai - Following the successful debut of the combined textile machinery show in 2008, the joint owners of ITMA ASIA + CITME announced today that they would be extending their cooperation for a second show in 2010.
