‘Pine cone effect’ to be used in moisture management fabrics

London – UK based start up company, MMT Textiles Ltd has invented and patented a method of constructing bio-responsive fibres and yarns so that they react to humidity levels in a micro-climate. The porosity of subsequent knitted, woven or non-woven fabrics increases with high levels of humidity or wetness in the micro-climate, facilitating the release of moisture, or decreases in low level humidity or dry conditions, improving insulation. This is referred to as ‘the pine cone effect’.

ITI awarded patent on high visibility, flame and arc resistant fabrics

Teijin’s Thai subsidiaries awarded

Bangkok - The Teijin Group has announced that its polyester fibre subsidiaries Teijin Polyester (Thailand) Limited (TPL) and Teijin (Thailand) Limited (TJT) each received the National Occupation Safety and Health Award 2009 from Thailand’s Ministry of Labour on July 2. TPL has now received the award seven consecutive years and TJT five.


Nilit China running at full capacity

Uniqlo could double knitwear imports from Bangladesh

Dhaka - Japanese giant Uniqlo, one of the world’s fastest growing retailers, has expressed strong interest in doubling imports of knitwear from Bangladesh, industry representatives were told on a trade mission to Japan last week. Uniqlo Vice President Hiroshi Nagai however, emphasized the need for improvements in product quality and diversification.

Second highest attendance in history of Texworld USA

New York - Texworld USA, which organisers say is the largest sourcing event in the United States for apparel applications, returned last week to New York City’s Javits Convention Center. The seventh edition showcased 138 exhibitors from 13 countries and welcomed 2,678 attendees. Provided is a nerve regeneration-inducing tube comprising a tubular body which is obtained by knitting an ultrafine fiber made of a biodegradable and absorbable polymer and has an outer surface coated with a collagen solution and collagen packed in the interior of the tubular body. The nerve regeneration-inducing tube is excellent in cell proliferation, pressure resistance, shape restoration and kink resistance. In particular, a nerve regeneration-inducing tube having a degradation rate adjusted so as to be suitable for bridging a nerve gap exceeding 40 mm is provided. The invention is directed to a nerve regeneration-inducing tube comprising a tubular body obtained by knitting a fiber bundle formed of a plurality of ultrafine fibers made of a biodegradable and absorbable polymer and having an outer surface coated with collagen, characterized in that the tubular body is formed of mainly a first polymer having biodegradability and absorbability and a second polymer having higher biodegradability and absorbability than the first polymer.
